BERLIN — Double Dutch Intl. (DDI) has nabbed worldwide rights to “The Blue Mauritius,” from director Michael Wenning (“Crossing Lines”).
The heist thriller boasts an international cast, leading with Amr Waked (“Lucy,” pictured above), Sönke Möhring (“Inglourious Basterds”), Anika Noni Rose (“Dreamgirls”), along with actors from Brazil, the U.K., Germany and South Africa.
“The Blue Mauritius” follows five glamorous thieves as they assemble in Berlin to embark on an historical heist to steal the Blue Mauritius, said to be world’s most valuable stamp. The Blue Mauritius is also secretly connected to a legendary fortune and murder.
” ‘The Blue Mauritius’ has all the making of a classic heist film with a modern edge,” said DDI president Jason Moring. “We’re excited to introduce this truly international film to buyers in Berlin, a city with its own rich history that will set the tone and act as the backdrop for this sexy thriller.”
Pic marks the feature debut of Wenning, who’s worked on various TV skeins and miniseries, including “Crossing Lines” and “Heldt.”
“America’s Got Talent’s” Nick Cannon is on board to exec produce with D Street Pictures Dexter Davis and French producer Ilann Girard (“Lebanon”).
Production is slated to begin this spring in Berlin.
