Cinema Management Group has closed a deal with Wolfe Releasing for the U.S. rights to Fina Torres’ “Liz in September.” The pic is screening at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Torres (“Orianne,” “Habana Eva,” “Woman on Top”) also wrote the screenplay.

“Liz in September” stars Venezuelan actress Patricia Velasquez, whose previous work includes the Showtime series “The L Word” and “The Mummy” franchise.

Pic sees Liz (Velasquez), an adventurous and confident gay woman faced with an illness that threatens her life. Aware of her appetite for a challenge, yet oblivious to her illness, her friends dare her to seduce the lovely and straight Eva (Eloisa Maturen).

“Bringing ‘Liz in September’ to U.S. audiences is an honor and a pleasure,” said Wolfe Releasing co-president Jim Stephens. “Fina Torres is an incredibly talented filmmaker and I know American audiences are going to fall in love with this film.”

CMG president Edward Noeltner, said: “Fina and the amazing cast have created a very special film that lingers for days on the viewer’s mind and is sure to find the same success internationally as it has in Venezuela.”
