The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has narrowed this year’s field of best live action short film contenders to 10 from a qualifying list of 144 films.
The finalists for a nomination are:

“Day One,” Henry Hughes, director (American Film Institute)
“Everything Will Be Okay (Alles Wird Gut),” Patrick Vollrath, director (Filmakademie Wien)
“The Free Man (Zi You Ren),” Quah Boon-Lip, director (Taipei National University of the Arts)
“Shok,” Jamie Donoughue, director (Eagle Eye Films)

Nominees will be announced alongside all other Oscar nominees on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016.
