The film is to be directed by Nicholas McCallum, with McCallum, Shayne Armstrong and Shane Kraus (“Bait 3D”) writing. Pre-production gets under way in July. Filming in native 3D will follow, and delivery is scheduled for June 2016.

“The Stone Forest” is the story of an Australian university student who travels to China and falls in love with a Chinese girl. As their romance develops they discover the girl is living with an ancient curse. Together they unite a team to do battle with an evil entity to break her bond of condemnation.

Development funding was provided by Screen Queensland. Production finance comes in part from CMW and Deluxe Australia.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to film in China with this exciting 3D action adventure feature film set in the stunning Yunnan province,” McCallum said in a statement.
