Russian and Chinese companies this week struck a deal to co-produce animated feature “Snow Queen 3: Fire And Ice.”

The agreement signed in Beijing between Russia’s Wizart Animation and China’s Flame Node followed close on the heel of the Aug 3 release of 2012 picture “Snow Queen” in Chinese theaters.

The new film will be directed by Alexsey Tsitsilin and produced by Yuri Moskvin, Vladimir Nikolaev. Production in Russia is underway and completion is expected in late 2016.

Described by producers as “a story of kindness, bravery and love for one’s family,” the story follows a woman who has defeated both the Snow Queen and the Snow King, but still hasn’t found her parents. In her quest she discovers an ancient troll artefact, but things don’t go according to plan.

Released by Huaxia Distribution on behalf of Flame Node, “The Snow Queen” has grossed $430,000 from 4,780 screenings in three days of China release.
