Singapore-Chinese actor Chin Han (“Marco Polo,” “The Dark Knight”) has joined the cast of “Independence Day 2,” which is now shooting in New Mexico.
The news was announced by director Roland Emmerich today via a message on his personal Twitter account.
The Twentieth Century Fox film is set for release on June 24, 2016.
Chin Han, who previously worked with Emmerich on “2012,” will play the leader of the Chinese Space Squadron. His other international roles include “Contagion,” “Restless” and upcoming IFC production “The Spoils Before Dying.”
Chin Han, who was nominated for Variety‘s Asian Star of the Year Award in 2013, is managed by Andrew Ooi of Echelon Talent Management and Van Johnson.
He joins previously announced cast including Maika Monroe, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, Vivica Fox, Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
