The China Film Producers’ Association and the West Australian branch of the Australia China Business Council have set up the China Australia Film Collaboration. The business forum kicks off with the backing of regional film support organization ScreenWest and will be held Bunbury on Aug. 27-28, 2015, coinciding with the CinefestOz Film Festival.
For several years, the Australian film industry has been urged to increase its efforts to engage near neighbour China.
“Our ultimate aim is for this [event] is to lead to co-productions being undertaken,” said Wang Fenglin, VP and secretary general of the CFPA.
“China is a growing market, and Australia has much to offer by way of highly skilled creatives and crew, diverse locations and Government support,” said Ian Booth, chief executive, ScreenWest.
CinefestOz, held in Busselton, West Australia, gets under way Wednesday (Aug. 26) and runs till Sunday (Aug. 30).
