Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) and China’s Zhang YuQi (“White Deer Plain,” “CJ7”) will head the cast of multinational sci-fi thriller “Lost in the Pacific,” which begins shooting shortly.

The picture is to be directed by Vincent Zhou (“Last Flight”) with backing from Sydney- and Los Angeles-based Arclight Films, which is handling all rights outside China.

The story of a futuristic “Titanic in the sky” sets a group of elite passengers on board 2020’s inaugural luxury, transoceanic flight. The screenplay is by Zhou and Peter Cameron.

VFX will be headed by supervisor Bruce Jones (“The Italian Job,” “Star Trek”), art director Ian Bailie (“Atonement,” “Pride and Prejudice”) and Stareast Digital Lab and Venture 3D. Scott Winig is set as director of photography.

Production will begn this spring at the Pinewood Malaysia Studioswhere Netflix’s “Marco Polo” TV series was shot. Release in 3D is set for the end of the year.
