Berlin: Arclight Launches Robert Halmi-Backed ‘Frank And Lola’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Los Angeles and Sydney-based Arclight Films has picked up international rights to “Frank and Lola,” a romantic thriller starring Imogen Poots and Michael Shannon.

The Robert Halmi-backed film is the directorial debut of Matthew Ross, who is a consultant on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and managing editor of Filmmaker magazine.

Arclight Films represents all rights outside of North America, while CAA and WME Global are co-representing North America.

The story follows the love affair between a Las Vegas chef and a promising fashion designer that is badly derailed when the woman’s past and present demons resurface.

Other cast include Michael Nyqvist, Justin Long, Rosanna Arquette and Emmanuelle Devos.

The film, which is now in post-production, was produced by Parts & Labor, the Supply Company and Lola Pictures. Preferred Content and Killer Films are executive producers. The film was fully financed and produced in association with Great Point Media, a development .and finance company owned by Robert Halmi Jr. and Jim Reeve.

Arclight is also giving a market premiere at Berlin’s EFM to Fred Schepisi’s “The Olive Sisters,” a romantic drama based on the best-selling novel of the same name penned by Australian writer Amanda Hampson.

The film is now in pre-production ahead of a shoot in Australia, and has recently added cast including Leslie Mann, Anthony LaPaglia, Jacki Weaver, Melissa George, Gia Carides, Josh Lucas and Alexandra Schepisi.

Arclight has rights outside of Australia, New Zealand and North America.
