Global TV streaming service Viki has struck a content supply deal with Malaysia’s Primeworks Distribution. Primeworks will supply up to 100 hours of shows, including several that are exclusive to Viki.
Primeworks is part of Media Prima, Malaysia’s largest FTA broadcaster and the distribution arm of Primeworks, the country’s largest production company.
It is the first Malaysian content deal for Viki, which is owned by Japan’s Rakuten and was started with venture capital from Singapore.
Viki, carries TV shows, movies and other premium content that is translated into more than 200 languages by a community of avid fans. It boasts 40 million viewers each month and over a billion words translated.
Among the titles exclusive to Viki are “I Miss You 200%” (aka “Rindu Awak 200%”), the biggest Malay drama of 2014 starring popular on-screen couple Zul Ariffin and Ayda Jebat.
It will also carry “Autumn in my Heart” (seasons 1 and 2) and “And The Nominees Are” (Dan Calonnya Adalah) and digital sitcoms that have already screened on tonton.com.my, Media Prima’s own online platform.
