Ricky Gervais and Jane Fallon List in London

SELLERS: Ricky Gervais and Jane Fallon
PRICE: £7,750,000
SIZE: 5,263 square feet, 2-4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A digital missive from a kindly celebrity real estate helper who calls himself Beau Stahn let us know that wickedly sardonic entertainment industry hyphenate Ricky Gervais has his customized residence in the hoity-toity and celeb-favored Hampstead Heath area of London up for sale with an asking price of £7,750,000, an amount our handy-dandy currently conversion contraption puts at 11,756,000 U.S. dollars at today’s rates.

Along with a long and impressive list of successful and semi-successful endeavors, the 54-year old Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning comedian, chat show host, actor, writer, producer, and director co-created, wrote and starred in the original British version of “The Office” and, with professional partner Stephen Merchant, brought the hit show the U.S. for its long and spectacularly successful run. He is also, and most infamously, perhaps, an equally celebrated and reviled three-time Golden Globe Awards host (2010, 2011, 2012) who fearlessly used the bully pulpit to gleefully burst the outsized egos of a slew of Hollywood heavyweights with a ruthless onslaught of razor-sharp jabs.

Mister Gervais and his lady-mate of 30-some years, producer turned best-selling novelist Jane Fallon, purchased the property in question, according to British media reports, in 2006 for about £3.4 million, or about $6.5 million at 2006 rates and online marketing materials show the detached, four-story Victorian era residence encompasses a generous but hardly gargantuan 5,263-square-feet and by our count is configured with just two dedicated bedrooms — there are two more potential bedrooms — and 3.5 bathrooms. The high-ceiled floor-through combination living/dining space on the main floor makes a grand, nearly forty-foot sweep from front to back with a pair of matching, marble-manteled fireplaces, dark brown wide plank wood floors, a leaded glass bay window that overlooks a walled front garden, and direct access through French doors to the secluded and purposefully overgrown terrace at the rear. The spacious and conveniently adjacent kitchen has a dedicated dining space with built-in buffet, another set of French doors that open to the rear garden, and an expensively fitted cooking space with larger center island and sleek stainless steel appliances. It’s a half flight up to a compact guest bedroom and bathroom located above a very narrow attached single car garage and a full flight up to the second floor where listing photographs show Mister Gervais keeps a couple of guitars from his early days as a wannabe pop star in a large office-study fitted with herringbone pattern wood floors and inset bookshelves on either side of a fireplace. A terrace off the landing and a wall-to-wall carpeted and also fireplaced master bedroom completes the second floor along with an en suite bathroom and fitted dressing room that overlooks the garden. Tucked up into the eaves of the attic-like top floor there’s loads of storage, a small study/bedroom, and an unexpectedly large combination bathroom/dressing room with windowed shower space and a freestanding soaking tub painted a vibrant shade of fuchsia. According to the British tabs it was the Gervais-Fallons who added, at an approximately £1 million expense and reportedly considerable irritation to the neighbors, a basement level leisure complex with glass-enclosed plunge pool, a sky-lit gym, laundry facilities, and a golf simulator that listing details suggest could be converted to a home theater.

According to the reports out of the U.K., Mister Gervais, Ms. Fallon, and their unusually long-fanged feline Ollie — who has more than 22,000 Twitter followers in case you didn’t know — have moved on to a much more expensive residence nearby that they reportedly purchased for around £10.5 million — or $15,927,500 at today’s rates — and our research shows the couple also keep a 799-square foot one-bedroom and 1.5-bathroom pied-a-terre in a luxury condo conversion in the fancy-pants Lenox Hills area of New York City’s Upper East Side that was purchased in August 2008 for $1.665 million and was briefly available as a rental in the spring of 2013 at $6,000 per month.
