Patrick Dempsey Lists Photogenic Malibu Estate

A little birdie we’ll call Malibu Ken kindly let us know that Patrick Dempsey hoisted his stunningly photogenic compound in the hills above Malibu up for sale with an asking price of $14.5 million. This isn’t, perhaps, too much of a surprise to celebrity real estate watchers who have probably already read in all the tabs and gossip glossies that Mister Dempsey and his wife, makeup artist Jillian Fink, split up earlier this year after 15 years of marriage.

SELLERS: Patrick Dempsey and Jillian Fink
LOCATION: Malibu, Calif.
PRICE: $14.5 million
SIZE: 5,547 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

The Emmy and Golden Globe nominee and three-time People’s Choice Award winner acquired the 3.23 acre compound with its boxy, corrugated metal-sided, Frank Gehry-designed main residence, in June 2009 for exactly $7 million and, according to current online marketing materials, the 5,547-square-foot residence has remarkably voluminous and liberally sky-lit interconnected living spaces that include a gigantic great room with fireplace, a well-equipped cook’s kitchen, multiple dining areas, a roomy family room and an office. There are, per listing details, three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, including a master suite with fireplace and dual bathrooms.

The gated estate’s extensive grounds include a deck-girdled dark bottom swimming pool and spa with built in seating areas, an outdoor shower, a complete al fresco kitchen with pizza oven, a pergola-shaded dining area, a rock climbing wall and a soccer pitch, a chicken coop and organic vegetable and flower gardens plus numerous olive and fruit trees. Equestrian facilities include a four-stall barn and pasture and a perfectly restored Airstream trailer serves as guest quarters or an at-home getaway.

Mister Dempsey has owned numerous houses in Los Angeles including one in the Hollywood Hills he sold way back in 2001 to “The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki, and the more committed celebrity real estate watchers amongst us will recall that late last year, Mister Dempsey surreptitiously shelled out $1.925 million for an architecturally significant micro-compound just off Venice’s hipster swarmed Abbott Kinney shopping and dining district.
