We’ve now heard from several plugged in celebrity real estate snitches, including preeminent real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak and the all but unimpeachable Lucy Spillerguts, that it was Eva Longoria who secretly splashed out $11.4 million for a Hollywood Hills compound sold, so the real estate rumors go, by Tom Cruise.

The gated and heavily fortified multi-residence property is perched on a private, 2.75-acre promontory above Laurel Canyon, with panoramic views over the San Fernando Valley. The two-story main house, described in marketing materials as a European-style villa, has wide plank oak floors, Venetian plaster walls, an extravagantly outfitted farmhouse kitchen, and three en suite bedrooms, while a secondary residence for staff or guests adds another four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The main house overlooks a heated, lagoon-style swimming pool spanned by a footbridge, and sits across a stone-paved driveway from a trellis-shaded dining terrace, children’s playground and detached three-car garage.

Our research reveals the “Desperate Housewives” star’s residential real estate holdings include a fairly ordinary home in a gated development in San Antonio, an Italianate bungalow in L.A.’s historic Whitley Heights ’hood purchased in 2005 for $1.15 million, and an 8,600-square-foot mansion in the Hollywood Dell neighborhood she scooped up in 2006 for $3.6 million. As for Cruise, his almost 300-acre ranch outside Telluride, remains for sale on the open market at $59 million, and we’ve heard several times through the celebrity real estate gossip grapevine that his posh, 10,000-plus square-foot Beverly Hills manse, with a price tag of around $50 million, can be shown on the down low.
