YouTube to Launch E3 Video Hub with Live Coverage

Google’s YouTube is promising to give gaming fans a front-row seat at the Electronic Entertainment Expo later this month in L.A., with the launch of a new E3 hub featuring live-streams and trailers from the conference.

YouTube’s E3 hub is slated to launch on Sunday, June 14, with the Nintendo World Championships. That will be followed by the unveiling of the latest installment in the “Doom” series.

On Monday, June 15, starting at 9 a.m. PT, YouTube will host a 12-hour livestream marathon, hosted by Geoff Keighley, who will interview gaming creators, including live coverage of press conferences from Microsoft Xbox, Sony, EA, Ubisoft and other publishers. The hub is sponsored by Focus Features’ sci-fi thriller “Self/Less,” starring Ryan Reynolds, which premieres July 10.

YouTube’s coverage will include live gameplay of new titles, plus interviews with the site’s top videogame creators. The hub also will feature live coverage from IGN and GameSpot from YouTube’s booth at E3, hosted by Fullscreen-owned RoosterTeeth.

“From live reactions and gaming demos, to trivia showdowns and ‘Meet the Makers’ sessions with industry experts, the E3 YouTube hub will offer you the easiest place to explore the best of E3,” Ryan Wyatt, YouTube’s global head of gaming content, wrote in a blog post.

This year’s E3 is slated run June 16-18. The Entertainment Software Assn., which owns E3, in 2013 signed a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Convention Center and has been considering bids by other cities to host the convention starting in 2016.
