Amazon Grabs Streaming Rights to E! Drama ‘The Royals’

Amazon has acquired exclusive SVOD rights to “The Royals,” the soapy ensemble drama that marked E!’s entry into scripted series earlier this year.

Amazon will make the first season of the Lionsgate TV/Universal Cable Prods. series available for streaming as of Friday to Prime members. Toplined by Elizabeth Hurley, “Royals” revolves around the antics of a fictional British royal family. The Amazon deal will give the show a promotional boost leading into the Nov. 15 debut of its sophomore season on E!

“Royals” was renewed prior to its debut in March, which delivered solid numbers for E!. Mark Schwahn is creator and showrunner and exec producer with Brian Robbins, Joe Davola and Shauna Phelan.
