‘SnapperHero,’ ‘Epic Rap Battles of History’ Lead 2015 Streamy Award Nominations

Snapchat scripted series “SnapperHero” snatched up six nominations to lead the fifth annual Streamy Awards, a celebration of the year’s best in online video.

VH1 and its digital platforms will air the kudofest live from the Hollywood Palladium on Sept. 17.

YouTube channel “Epic Rap Battles of History” and web series “Video Game High School” each raked in four noms, while short film series “Adi Shankar’s Bootleg Universe” and Hulu parody “The Hotwives of Orlando” followed with three apiece.

To reflect a changing digital landscape, this year’s Streamys will include a social video category for Instagram, Snapchat and Vine. The awards have also added new categories for lifestyle channels, documentary or investigative series, breakout creator and breakthrough artist.

On Sept. 3, the nominees for entertainer of the year and show of the year will be announced as determined by a fan vote.
