Fox Sports Digital Buys StraightCast Media Assets

Fox Sports Digital has acquired some assets of online sports startup StraightCast Media, including the mobile video app Gridiron Grunts, which allows NFL players to capture video and engage directly with fans.

StraightCast co-founder Jeb Terry, who previously played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers, will also join Fox Sports Digitalas VP of program management.

Fox Sports has used the Gridiron Grunts app in the past to capture video recorded by NFL players and incorporate it into some of its programming; the network now plans to do similar things for other sports, including MLB, UFC, soccer and golf.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
