Digital Comedian Elliott Morgan Lands Standup Film from Supergravity Pictures

Internet comic and host Elliott Morgan will star in his first standup special to be financed, produced and distributed by digital studio Supergravity Pictures.

The special will be shot in this third quarter of this year with a release planned later in the year. Morgan is one of the original cast members of “SourceFed,” Discovery Communications and Phil DeFranco’s online comedy news show. He’s since worked with Mashable to help rebrand their online video content and currently hosts programs for Mental Floss, FremantleMedia’s YouTube game show “Buzzr” and Spike’s “Lip Sync Battle.”

“I’m incredibly excited to bring my standup comedy to a larger audience and create a special that people can really latch onto,” Morgan said. “Now I just have to write some jokes!”

Supergravity co-founder Marc Hustvedt produced six comedy specials, including Maria Bamford’s “The Special, Special, Special!,” Comedy Central’s “Ari Shaffir: Passive Aggressive,” and “Dancing Around the Shit Fire” with Kyle Kinane.

“Elliott has always been one of the funniest and smartest people on the Internet,” Hustvedt said in a statement. “We’re excited to partner with Elliott to make his first comedy special unique, intelligent and hilarious just like the talented comic he is.”

Otter Media, the digital-video joint venture of Chernin Group and AT&T, recently took a minority equity stake in Supergravity and also cut a co-production deal with the fledgling studio for future film projects.

Supergravity has released buddy comedy “Man Up,” starring Justin Chon and Kevin Wu, in partnership with Lakeshore Entertainment; and last month debuted horror movie “The Chosen,” featuring YouTube star Kian Lawley, at VidCon 2015. Both films are part of an exclusive four-movie distribution deal with Vimeo.
