E! Slates 8 Original Digital Series, Including ‘Royals’ Aftershow Livestream

NBCUniversal’s E! is pumping up its digital originals, with a lineup of eight series that includes its first scripted comedy “Hastaggers” and a livestreamed aftershow for “The Royals” season 2.

Social post-show “The Royal Hangover,” to debut Sunday, Nov. 15, will feature interviews with creator-exec producer Mark Schwahn along with series stars Elizabeth Hurley, Alexandra Park, Tom Austen and William Mosely.

E!’s “Hashtaggers” is an eight-episode comedy from creators Stun Creative looking at a dysfunctional group of celebrity ghost tweeters, slated to roll out weekly in February 2016. Each episode will run 3-5 minutes and will be released simultaneously across E!’s social and digital platforms. The series is slated to roll out weekly in February 2016.

Other new series include a “TV Scoop” online companion series to the linear TV show; “Glam Squad” (working title) produced by Rec Room, which takes a comedic look at what it means to be in the Hollywood in-crowd; “Fashion Bloggers,” also from Rec Room, following the world of digital couture elite; “Ranked,” a pop-culture take on the top-10 list countdown to launch in December; “Three to Be,” a weekly series showing three iconic pieces of fashion that define a celebrity’s style; and “Random Fandom,” a digital anthology series that covers fan communities from entertainment’s past, present and future.

Those join E!’s current original digital lineup of “Live From E!,” a weekday web-show hosted by E! News talent, and “E! News Now,” an original short-form news series.

All of the new series will be featured prominently on E! News’ YouTube channel, which the cabler will relaunch in December. In addition, the shows will be available via E! Online, the E! Online App, and across social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. All series will be specifically formatted for each platform allowing optimal viewing experiences across all platforms.

“With this new slate, we are developing and producing more original digital video content than ever before, and it has been exciting to collaborate with the creative community as we bring to life original programming that hits E!’s pop culture sweet spot,” said John Najarian, executive VP and G.M. of E! News and digital.

Update 4:45 p.m. In other development news, E! has greenlight eight hourlong episodes of a new reality television series, “Famously Single,” which will showcase celebrities who have been unlucky in love.

Brandi Glanville (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Pauly D (“Jersey Shore”), Josh Murray (“The Bachelor”), Danity Kane lead singer Aubrey O’Day, supermodel Jessica White, NFL’s Willis McGahee, Somaya Reece (“Love & Hip Hop Hollywood”) and British model Calum Best have been cast in the show, which will house all eight single celebs in a downtown L.A. loft together, as they go through relationship rehab.
