Disney Interactive is bringing Infinity 3.0 to Apple TV, taking advantage of the box’s new gaming features to try to expand the “toys-to-life” product line’s customer base.

The starter-pack version for Apple TV, on sale for $99 at Apple Stores nationwide starting Wednesday, includes a wireless controller developed by SteelSeries Mobile and a black Bluetooth Disney Infinity Base, plus the “Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic” play set piece with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano action figures.

Until now, Disney Infinity has been available only for game consoles and PCs. Infinity 3.0 is currently available via North American retail outlets for Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii U.

“Apple TV represents an incredible opportunity for us to bring Disney Infinity to a new audience of players who may not have a game console in their household,” said John Blackburn, senior VP and GM, Disney Infinity.

Disney Interactive is counting on the latest iteration of Infinity to revive flagging sales. The division’s revenue fell 10% for the fiscal year ended Oct. 3, to just under $1.3 billion.

The Infinity 3.0 edition for the new Apple TV supports separately sold play sets, including “Star Wars Rise Against The Empire” and “Inside Out,” and Toy Box expansion games. In addition, all figures and Power Discs from the 1.0 and 2.0 editions of Disney Infinity are compatible with the Apple TV version of the game.

Users also can play the Battle of Yavin from “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope” by downloading the Disney Infinity 3.0 app from Apple’s App Store.

An Infinity 3.0 play set for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is set to go on sale Dec. 18, timed for the movie’s theatrical debut. That’s part of Disney’s merchandise onslaught for the film expected to reap $5 billion in sales the first year alone, per Macquarie Research estimates.
