Amazon Studios has announced a licensing deal for transatlantic comedy series “Catastrophe” — penned by and starring comedian and author Rob Delaney and actress Sharon Horgan — which will be available exclusively on Prime Instant Video.
The first season of the six-episode half-hour comedy is airing on the U.K.’s Channel 4 and has been renewed for a second season. Set in London, “Catastrophe” is about an Irish woman (Horgan) and American man (Delaney) struggling to start a relationship after their clumsy lust leads to pregnancy. Series co-stars Carrie Fisher and Ashley Jensen.
“Catastrophe” is an Avalon Television production with co-producers Birdbath Productions and Merman. The series will be available exclusively for Prime members in the U.S. this spring and will come to Prime Instant Video in the U.K. later in 2015.
“Rob and Sharon have created an engaging, contemporary, funny and moving story,” Roy Price, VP of Amazon Studios, said in announcing the pact. “We are excited to bring ‘Catastrophe’ exclusively to our Amazon Prime customers and can’t wait to hear what they think of the series.”
“Catastrophe” is produced by Jack Bayles and directed by Ben Taylor along with executive producers Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker, Rob Delaney, Sharon Horgan and Jon Thoday.
