YouTube has appointed Neal Mohan, a longtime Google exec, to lead product and design for the No. 1 Internet video service, the company announced Wednesday.

Mohan reports to YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, who announced the appointment in a tweet:

Previously, Mohan was Google’s senior VP for display and video advertising.

As head of Google’s display and mobile advertising products, Mohan oversaw the Google Display Network, AdSense, Admob, DoubleClick, Ad Exchange, Wildfire, InviteMedia and Admeld.

Mohan joined Google in 2008 after Google’s $3.1 billion acquisition of DoubleClick, where he was senior VP of display advertising products. Prior to DoubleClick, he worked for Microsoft and Accenture.
