Grusd replaces Jimmy Maymann, whom AOL has moved into a new role overseeing the Internet media company’s consumer brands. Maymann also will work with Verizon on the telco’s launch wireless subscription-video service.
Verizon completed its $4.4 billion acquisition of AOL in June, looking to tap into AOL’s ad serving and targeting technology for the forthcoming mobile video service, dubbed G0 90.
Grusd, prior to his nearly four years at Spotify, co-founded legal technology company Shake, which LegalShield acquired in April 2015. He was AOL’s chief strategy and business development officer from mid-2009 until October 2011, and before that worked at Google, where he negotiated partnerships for the search giant’s advertising business as managing counsel.
