Talpa, Tencent Launch New Reality Format ‘The 15 of Us’ in China

John De Mol’s Dutch powerhouse Talpa and Chinese online group Tencent have joined forces on their first reality format “The 15 of Us,” which will launch on China’s Tencent Video platform.

Developed primarily for digital broadcasting and for the Chinese market, “The 15 of Us” has generated much viral buzz prior to its roll-out. As many as 100,000 users have applied to take part in the social experiment.

The show focuses on 15 people who come from different parts of China and find themselves on an isolated mountain of Tong Lu. They are given the opportunity to help each other to achieve their respective dreams and but they must first create a new home, be self-sufficient and earn money.

The program, which includes a number of Chinese festivals, will bow on Dragon TV on June 29.
