Peter Chou, co-founder of Taiwanese smart phone maker HTC Corp., has been appointed as chairman of visual effects firm Digital Domain Holdings.
“We are thrilled that a person with Peter’s history of innovation and cutting edge thinking will be joining the DDHL family,” said Daniel Seah, who will remain CEO and executive director, DDH. “He is a pioneer in the technology industry and as we continue to expand our interests in VR, immersive experiences and new technology, he is the perfect person to help lead DDHL’s exciting future.”
Chou, most recently ‘head of future development’ at HTC and supervisor of its virtual reality platform Vive.
DDH, which has a listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, includes companies Digital Domain 3.0, Digital Domain Productions 3.0 (BC), and Mothership Media, which it acquired in July 2013. The VFX arm has been involved in providing effects for movies including “Iron Man,” “Transformers,” “X-Men,” “Titanic,” “Her” and “Tron: Legacy.”
