Variety co-editor-in-chief Andrew Wallenstein rang the closing bell at Nasdaq’s MarketSite in Times Square on Thursday afternoon.
Wallenstein’s big moment commemorated the arrival of Variety‘s Entertainment and Technology Summit, which took place Thursday in New York City for the first time.
The biannual conference, which also takes place in Los Angeles, serves as a platform to discuss the link between content and delivery methods of today’s entertainment, particularly digital advances.
The conference’s morning agenda included conversations with tech titans such as Glenn Brown, co-creator and head of Twitter Amplify, and Vania Schlogel, chief investment officer of Tidal and Roc Nation.
The conference culminates in a keynote address from Spike Lee and fashion/media entrepreneur Marc Ecko.
Variety was founded 110 years ago in New York City.
