Starz has upped Ken Segna to senior VP of original programming, the network announced Wednesday.
Segna has climbed the Starz ladder rapidly; he began his career with the company as an executive assistant in 2010 before being promoted to VP of original programming in 2014.
In his new role, Segna will oversee production on upcoming buzzy Starz projects, including series “Counterpart,” a thriller/drama series starring J.K. Simmons and directed by Morten Tyldum (“The Imitation Game”). He will also supervise production on “The Girlfriend Experience,” a new series exec produced by Steven Soderbergh, and “The One Percent,” a new drama from Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.
Segna will continue to lead development on “American Gods,” a series adapted from Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel.
“Ken is an incredibly valued member of the original programming team who has been a key contributor in expanding Starz Original series programming,” said Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik. “Ken is in great company with fellow original programming SVPs Marta Fernandez and Karen Bailey as Starz continues to ramp up its remarkable programming growth.”
