Hillary Clinton’s fundraising treks to Los Angeles draw extensive attention, but what is lesser known is that Republican candidates have been pulling campaign cash from the region in more low-key events.
That will change on Dec. 8, as Marco Rubio’s campaign has scheduled a fundraiser at the sprawling hilltop home of Tony Pritzker, with John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting scheduled to perform, according to an invite. Pritzker is the managing partner of the Pritzker Group and an heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune.
Tickets to the event are $5,400 per couple, with those who raise $27,000 getting listed on the host committee. The event also includes a photo reception and dinner.
So far the host committee is heavily populated with investment types and attorneys, but some of the industry names include Jim Jackoway and his wife Michele, Mary Hart and Burt Sugarman. Josh Friedman, co-founder of Canyon Partners and a supporter of Mitt Romney in the 2012 cycle, is also on the host committee list with wife Beth.
Rubio’s last fundraising swing was on Nov. 18, when he attended a fundraiser at the home of investment manager Mark Siegel.
More GOP candidates are expected to swing through Los Angeles after attending the Republican debate in Las Vegas on Dec. 15.
On Thursday, former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to raise money for his wife’s campaign at the home of Michael Kong and Stacy Twilley.
