A bomb scare, which later turned out to be false, shut down the busy intersection of Hollywood & Highland for more than two hours on Thursday. The incident took place just steps away from the Dolby Theater, home to Sunday’s Academy Awards.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told Variety that police stopped someone for reckless driving. The driver admitted to authorities that he may have had explosives in the trunk of his vehicle. Officials later said no explosives were found.
The incident occurred specifically at the intersection of Yucca and Highland.
Hollywood & Highland, currently closed while investigations continue, is expected to reopen shortly. The Academy Awards have been setting up for the upcoming show throughout the week, with many journalists picking up their Oscar credentials at the site on Thursday.
