Bing will oversee all communications and media relations for Fox’s vast group of domestic and international cable channels, with the exception of Fox News and Fox Business Network. Based in Los Angeles, he will report to FNG chairman-CEO Peter Rice as well as president-COO Randy Freer and 21st Century Fox corporate communications chief Julie Henderson.
“Jonathan is an incredibly accomplished communications executive who brings to FNG a keen understanding of our industry through his work representing and advising key stakeholders,” Rice said. “We are confident he will be a strategic and energetic voice for our businesses as well as a valuable partner for FNG’s brands and networks.”
Bing comes to Fox after heading his own PR firm, Bing Communications Group, for the past five years. Before that he ran the Los Angeles office of U.K.-based Freud Communications from 2006 to 2010. He also served a hitch as a writer and editor for Variety from 2000 to 2006.
At Fox, Bing will assume duties previously handled by Scott Grogin, senior VP at FNG. Fox has restructured the PR functions of the group to fall under Henderson’s corporate communications group.
