Iceland’s otherworldly beauty has made it a key location for Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott and other filmmakers seeking the kind of natural and environmental extremes found close to the Arctic Circle. Adding to the country’s appeal: a direct-cash rebate of up to 20% of incurred production costs. When more than 80% of costs are incurred in Iceland, the reimbursement widens to total production cost incurred within the entire European Economic Area (EEA), allowing producers the option of filming at another location on the continent while still qualifying for the reimbursement.
