If the range of landscapes and historic locations doesn’t bring producers to France, then the generous incentive will. A project can earn a refundable tax rebate worth up to 20% of qualifying local spend, up to a maximum of $21.7 million. Recent changes to the Tax Rebate for Intl. Productions (Trip) have altered the minimum spend requirement: a production can either spend the minimum of $1.09 million, or it must spend more than 50% of its budget in France. This opens the door for smaller indie projects. Trip is also set to increase its rates and max cap per project as of Jan. 1.
