“Birdman” and Steven J. Scott won for color grading movies while John Crowley and “Boardwalk Empire” took the TV color grading prize. “Whiplash” and Tom Cross won for editing films and Kristin McCasey and “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways — Nashville” for TV. The sound prize for film went to Alan Murray, Tom Ozanich, John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff of Warner Bros.’ “American Sniper” and Nello Torri, Alan Decker of NBCUniversal StudioPost and Craig Dellinger of Sony Sound Services took the sound prize in TV for “Homeland.”
The TV visual-effects trophy went to “Game of Thrones” episode “The Dance of Dragons” and Joe Bauer, Steve Kullback, Derek Spears, Eric Carney and Jabbar Raisani. The film vfx award to “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, David Clayton, R. Christopher White and Matt Aitken.
The HPA Awards recognize individuals and companies for contributions made in films, television, commercials and entertainment content. The honors were given in craft categories, engineering excellence, and creativity and innovation.
