Audiences flocked to Disney Channel’s recent “Sofia the First” special, which became primetime’s No. 1 telecast of the year in key preschool demos.

According to Nielsen estimates, the Nov. 23 spec “Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy,” featuring a special appearance by Rapunzel voiced by Mandy Moore, averaged about 4.7 million total viewers — making it the series’ No. 2 telecast to date.

It was the No. 1 evening telecast across all television among kids 2-5 (1.4 million) and girls 2-5 (1.1 million) and the No. 1 evening preschool telecast among kids 2-11 (2.7 million), adults 18-49 (1.5 million) and women 18-49 (950,000).

Year-to-date, Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” is TV’s top series in girls 2-5, accounting for the top 11 telecasts and the No. 1 preschool cable TV series in total viewers and women 18-49. Its animated TV movie prequel, “Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess,” continues to be the No. 1 cable TV telecast of all time in kids 2-5 and girls 2-5.
