Watch: ‘Planet of the Apes’ Short Films Document Gap Between ‘Rise’ and ‘Dawn’

Twentieth Century Fox has partnered with Vice Media’s Motherboard to release three short films documenting what happened during the 10 years that have passed between “Rise” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

In the upcoming film, Caesar and his army of apes are threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. Apes and humans are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

The “Before the Dawn” short films will show fans what happened during that decade, which led to mankind’s descent into destruction.

The short films include “Quarantine,” documenting year one, “All Fall Down” at year five and “The Gun,” 10 years after the viral pandemic known as the “simian flu” swept the globe — and only humans immune to the virus survived.

In the films, people are beginning to be quarantined, children have guns, homes are destroyed, stores looted and humans turn on each other.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” bows July 11.

TV Review: The 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

The 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards had some truly surprising moments, twists that not even the most experienced prognosticators saw coming, moving tributes and calls to action. It’s just too bad that not a single one of them came courtesy of Fox’s production.  The Emmys are, all things considered, a dependably tame awards ceremony. They [...]
