Jon Stewart never took seriously an NBC News inquiry about his interest in hosting the venerable “Meet The Press” Sunday public-affairs program, the Comedy Central host tells a rival Sunday news show, CBS’ “Sunday Morning.”

“They’re confused. They’re confused,” Stewart said in sing-song fashion to “Sunday Morning” correspondent Mo Rocca, who happens to be an alumnus of Stewart’s popular “Daily Show.”

“They didn’t offer me anything.”  Stewart said in the interview, slated to air this Sunday on CBS. “It was just one of those, like, ‘What do you think about that?’ kind of conversation.” His ultimate response: ” I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
