He’s baaaack!

Jay Leno made his big return to the “Tonight Show” on Friday by hazing his replacement Jimmy Fallon.

This was Leno’s first formal guest appearance on the NBC latenight talkshow after ending his 22-year run as “Tonight Show” host in February of last year. His return gave “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” its highest Friday rating in eight months. The episode averaged a 3.3, 8 share in Nielsen’s metered-market households.

Leno teased Fallon by sharing a conversation they once had in which the new host asked Leno for car advice. The car connoisseur told Fallon not to buy a classic car if he couldn’t handle working on its engine.

“Look at these hands, ladies and gentlemen,” he said, holding up Fallon’s hand. “That’s like a puppy’s paw. This is the hand of a five-year-old and it’s actually pink.”

He later intervened when Fallon was interviewing guest star Lucy Liu. “This is your first time with Jimmy, but I was your first,” he told Liu.

Leno can next been seen on latenight as Craig Ferguson’s final “Late Late Show” guest on the host’s final episode on December 19. He’s also returning to TV next year with a CNBC show about cars.
