Spike TV has joined Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions and Giant Pirates Entertainment to option the script for a special-event series based on Richard D. “Skip” Bronson’s best-selling book, “The War at the Shore.”

Although Trigger Street Productions will develop the series, Kevin Spacey is not attached to the project.

The book follows the five-year epic battle between real estate mogul Donald Trump and Steve Wynn over the future of one of the U.S.’s gambling meccas, Atlantic City. From 1995-2000, Trump embarked on an all-out legal and propaganda war to prevent Wynn from developing a new resort complex in the New Jersey city. The book is written from Bronson’s perspective, as he was Wynn’s right-hand man during the fight.

“The War at the Shore” is part of Spike’s strategy to return to scripted programming with limited event series, which the network unveiled last April.

Dana Brunetti (“Captain Phillips,” “House of Cards”) from Trigger Street Productions is the executive producer for “The War at the Shore.” Troy Searer (“Breaking Bonaduce,” “Obsessed”) and Ross Jacobson (“In A World,” “Big Sur”) from Giant Pirates Entertainment also will also serve as executive producers.
