The Missing,” Starz’s ambitious new mystery thriller, aims to take viewers inside the mind of a father, Tony (James Nesbitt), who is desperate to locate his lost son after the five-year-old goes missing during a family holiday in France.

What happens next spans two timelines — the series is set in both 2006 and 2014 and the plots interweave and unfold simultaneously — and explores “how time can change people, and the ramifications of just one event echoing over the years,” according to writer and executive producer Jack Williams.

Below, Variety has an exclusive preview of the eight-part limited series, which stars Nesbitt and Frances O’Connor as two devastated parents whose lives are torn apart by the loss — and by Tony’s ongoing obsession with solving the mystery of their son’s disappearance.

“The Missing” premieres Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. on Starz.
