Stephen Colbert Defends ‘Colbert Report’ Against Charges of Racism

Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert spent the first half of Monday’s edition of “The Colbert Report” defending the show from accusations of racism.

The criticism of the show stems from a bit last week in which Colbert’s faux conservative commentator riffed on critics of Washington Redskins football team for using a moniker that is considered offensive by many Native Americans. A tweet quoting a line from his segment about the launch of “the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity for Orientals or Whatever” set off a firestorm.

Here’s Colbert’s defense against the Internet-fueled campaign to “cancel Colbert.”

    great articles, love it!

  2. El Squire says:

Stephen is a great comedian but also a great political commentator – this issue was nothing more than a chance for the stupid Tea Party leaning morons to TRY and make an issue out of something that didn’t exist – you know – like BENGHAZI/IRS etc.
He would make a great Politician if he didn’t have so much contempt for them (rightly).

    • Bret Kenyon says:

Yeah, it wasn’t the Tea Party making an issue, just FYI…

    • Jim says:

I was looking for the Tea party being responsible for the outrage and didnt find it. WHere did you get that it was the Tea Party that is making an issue about this.. And …are you referring to the video protest that didnt exist for Benghazi? I t sounds like you are looking for a fight that doesnt exist..

  3. RichieV says:

Wow, I guess some humor goes over peoples head. The bit Colbert did was satire against the Redskin organization not an attack on people from Asia… but then I guess some people are just dying to be offended.

  4. Joyce Lewis says:

I think the whole fiasco regarding Stephen Colbert’s comments are a big bunch of crap! He is a Comedian folks..if you don’t like his program or sense of humor, unless you have an antiquated version of a television, you have a channel changer. It’s real simple to use as most up to date tv’s have what’s called a “REMOTE CONTROL” so you don’t even have to get up and walk a few steps to change the channel! Everyone pretty much knows Stephen Colbert is a satirical comic and I think he is very funny. Also, everyone in the whole world is aware of the Holocaust and Slavery..and in no way was Stephen Colbert’s program insinuating any type of discrimination toward any race, nationality or intelligence! Lighten up people, it’s only comedy.

  5. Kareem O says:

Stephen Colbert is a RACIST HATEMONGER! CC should fire him! He won’t dare pick on African Americans, because Jesse J , Al B Sure Sharpton, and Hakeem Elijahquan Obama would make white man soup out of him, after they worship their G.. Allah! Spike Lee needs to Skool him on rat relations! Spike Lee knows… Colbert is the MAN! AND A WHITE DEVIL! Stephen needs to get in a UFO and visit Louis Farrakhan! Then Louie Louie can audit the cracka $cientologie style! Teach him to worship the Black man, and make hum… a white slave!

  6. Taking bets if NJ ACLU will want to get involved in Stephen Colbert’s Brou ha ha:: Here’s a copy of an email sent to NJ ACLU that involves Colbert’ and Ching Chong Ding Dong, etc. “(T)here might be an issue here in terms of freedom of speech because of what was written “MAY OFFEND SOMEONE”?Your Article was not approved!

Stephen Colbert’s Ching Chong Ding Dong Foundation Needs to “Partner”
    with a CHALK-ASIAN ‘Foundation”

    By Barbara Todish

Just about everyone is upset with Stephen Colbert because he dares
to have a sense of humor!

Steven Colbert just got in trouble for making a joke about the
Chinese: He said he is starting the Ching Chong Ding Dong Foundation
for Sensitivity to (Orientals, or whatever) Asians..lol

If only I could tweet him! But because I am in China, there is a
firewall that blocks Twitter, facebook, etc.. (and yes, I know about
VPNs,(Virtual Private Networks) but I hate privacy! lol Now in Turkey,
too , twitter, etc., ? is blocked.

But blocking here in China or Turkey, or anywhere, for that matter is
really unnecessary, because people, almost all people, have BLOCKED
themselves, because almost no one has a sense of humor anymore!

Even in comedy clubs, all people do, instead of laughing
spontaneously, is say, occasionally, at that ,”That is very funny!’

“Why is everone so serious, Whyare they all so mysterious? With their
shades on their eyes and their heelas so high, that they can’t even
have a good time? (From Jesse J “Price TAG”)

It is getting to be ILLEGAL to have a sense of humor at all, anymore!

AND if you DARE to have a dark, darker, darkest sense of humor, you
are worse than a “terrorist” , you are INAPPRORIATE!

Who gives anyone the right, or is it the arrogance, to decide WHAT IS
    APPROPRIATE anyway?

I, too want to help Asians, and everyone, even CHALK-ASIANS, and
blacks and jews, too, if only the blacks and the jews could get over
their addiction to victimization with holocaust and reparations redux!

While here in China, I want to focus on bringing sensitivity to rich
asian women by teaching them that if they have pink BMW’s with huge
    “Hello Kitty” external
detailing and embroidered Hello Kitty internal seat detailing that
they probably got their money by selling their pussy so that they are
really more appropriately: Hello ( I’m Slitty, Slutty) Kitty. lol
