Starz has renewed urban drama series “Power” for a second season on the heels of its June 7 premiere.

Drama starring Omari Hardwick revolves around a New York nightclub owner trying to go legit after making his fortune in the drug trade. Courtney Kemp Agboh (pictured with Hardwick), an alum of “The Good Wife,” created the CBS Television Studios series and is showrunner-exec producer with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, David Knoller and Randall Emmett.

Production is set to resume in September at Brooklyn’s Steiner Studios and at locations around Gotham.

“I am thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to create a season two that we plan to be bigger and better than the first,” shared series creator Courtney Kemp Agboh.

“Power” bowed to about 2 million viewers this past weekend. The show has been a priority for Starz in its quest to attract a more diverse and younger aud.
