Starz Casts Leads for LeBron James’ Comedy Series ‘Survivor’s Remorse’

Starz has cast its lead roles for new basketball comedy series “Survivor’s Remorse.”

NBA star LeBron James will serve as executive producer for the original series. Mike O’Malley penned the script and will executive produce, along chairman of the Boston Red Sox Tom Werner, Maverick Carter and Paul Wachter.

From Cartoon Network’s “Level Up,” Jessie T. Usher has been cast in the lead role of Cam Calloway, a basketball phenom who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract.

Ronreaco Lee has been cast as Reggie Vaughn, Cam’s cousin and confidant. Lee has appeared in “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail” and BET’s original comedy series “Let’s Stay Together.”

“The Real Husbands of Hollywood’s” Erica Ash will play M-Chuck, the sister of Calloway, and Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”) has been cast as Cassie, Calloway’s mother.

They join Teyonah Parris (“Mad Men”) who was cast as Reggie’s wife Missy.

“Survivor’s Remorse” is set in the world of professional basketball and explores what happens after becoming a star athlete.

The half-hour scripted series will shoot in Atlanta, and debut its six-episode first season in the fall of 2014 on Starz.
