LONDON — Sony’s AXN has bought pay TV rights to the first two seasons of cop series “Falco” for 15 Central and Eastern European territories, including Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

“Falco” is based on “The Last Cop,” German channel SAT.1’s most successful crime series. When it aired on TF1 in France, “Falco” outperformed the channel average by up to 135%. The series has also been picked up by Mediaset in Italy. The AXN deal was inked by Red Arrow Intl.

The show, which is produced by Beaubourg Audiovisuel, is described as a character-driven action series. It starts in 1991: 24-year-old detective Alexander Falco has it all — a loving wife, a new-born daughter and his dream job. But one day, during an operation that goes badly wrong, he is shot in the head. When Falco opens his eyes again it is 2013, and everything he once knew has changed.
