If you thought the surprise Syfy hit “Sharknado” suffered from a lack of chainsaw action, you can ensure that the upcoming sequel more than makes up for it.
“We’re going to allow you this intimate access into one of the most anticipated movies of 2014,” producer David Latt says in the campaign video.
The extra scene will only be shot if the small studio (The Asylum) reaches its goal in 48 days. In return for pledges, donors can get a shark named after them ($45), record a scream to be heard in the TV movie ($120), tape a walk-on role on either a “death scene or heroic scene” ($5,000) and be credited with a much coveted associate producer title ($25,000).
“Because (they) feel kind of bad about all the CGI sharks (they’ve) obliterated,” 10% of the proceeds from the campaign will be donated to a marine conservation program that works to save sharks.
“Sharknado 2” is being shot in New York City and is set to air on Syfy in July. Mark McGrath, Kelly Osbourne, Andy Dick and Vivica A. Fox will appear in the film.
