Scott Pelley will report from Iraq this week during “The CBS Evening News,” CBS News said in a statement Monday.
The anchor is already in Iraq, the network said, offering few details. He is expected to report during the week on the ongoing crisis in the country as well as the state of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the Sunni jihadist organization that has contributed to the current unrest in that region.
The network did not specify when Pelley’s reports would air on the program.
Bob Schieffer is expected to anchor the broadcast Monday evening.
