“Sleepy Hollow” Virtual Reality Experience (July 24-27, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. daily, Petco Interactive Zone) Inside the “Sleepy Hollow” bridge fans will be transported via an Oculus Rift headset into a virtual reality “Sleepy Hollow” experience and chased by a headless horseman. Cast and creatives will make an appearance at the experience.
“Gotham” Zip Line (July 24-27, between the SDCC convention center and Hilton Bayfront Hotel) Participants will zip-line through the Gotham city landscape and receive a sharable photo of the experience and a commemorative SDCC Gotham badge.
“Gotham” Police Cars (July 24 -27) Fox will recreate the pilot’s iconic police cars to pick up passengers throughout the convention weekend for free rides. Cars will be outfitted with iPads offering sneak previews of “Gotham” content.
MAC Cosmetics’ Marge Simpson-inspired collection (July 26, MAC Cosmetics Gaslamp store) The collection will be sold for one day only during the convention. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the collection and receive a Marge makeover.
‘The Strain” – ‘He Is Here’ (July 26, 7:30 p.m., Reading Cinemas Gaslamp) An inside look at the first two episodes of the new drama, costumes and props fromthe show, as well as a sneak peek into footage from the episode airing July 27. Attendees will be treated to food, drinks, giveaways and special appearances.
“On the Set with ‘Vikings'” (July 24-26, 450 2nd Ave.) Fans can have a starring role in their own custom video that can be shared on social media. Guests will create a character profile and choose a weapon, meet with hair and make-up artists and be placed into three scenes complete with Viking ships, battles, axes and villages.
Homer’s Dome (July 24-27, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily, Bayfront Park) In anticipation of FXX’s upcoming “Simpsons” marathon and the new “Simpsons World” online experience, the show will take over Bayfront Park with a giant re-creation of Homer Simpson’s head. Visitors can enter to watch a projection mapping experience and demo of the “Simpsons World” online environment. Marge’s Sweet Station will serve free blue cotton candy, fans will have the chance to win prizes at the Kwik-E-Race game, and life-size characters will be on hand for photo ops. Fans can also participate in a Guinness World Records attempt for the “most contributions to a painting by numbers.”
Nerd HQ – Nerd HQ will return to Petco Park, featuring more fan-focused opportunities and exclusive gaming opportunities.
