The program will blend interviews with the individuals and recreations of the events in question. Downey is producing through her LightWorkers Media banner, a unit of the United Artists Media Group deal that Downey and Mark Burnett just launched in partnership with MGM. TLC has ordered six hourlong episodes of the untitled series, targeted to debut late next year.
“Mark and I feel passionate about providing projects that show people’s lives in positive and uplifting ways.” said Downey. “This is a wonderful opportunity to work with TLC and host a series that will inspire and encourage viewers to remember that even in the worst circumstances prayer can lead to divine intervention.”
Downey, Burnett and Katy Davis are exec producers. The TLC project joins a growing slate of projects that Burnett and Downey, who are married, are shepherding through UAMG, including the NBC miniseries “A.D” and CBS mini ‘The Dovekeepers,” both of which are in production overseas.
The Downey series will help TLC reach the faith-driven audience that she and Burnett have cultivated through projects such as History’s “The Bible” mini and the feature “Son of God.”
“TLC is always looking for remarkable, heart-warming, and eye-opening stories. This project, and our fantastic partnership with Roma and Mark, will deliver a television experience that connects with the hearts, minds, and faith of our viewers,” said TLC g.m. Nancy Daniels.
