Piers Morgan has fought a ratings battle during his three-year run as host of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live,” and now the prime-time show is coming to an end, CNN has confirmed.

“CNN confirms that ‘Piers Morgan Live’ is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined,” the net said in a statement.

Morgan first broke the news to New York Times columnist David Carr and told him that it’s been a struggle being a Brit debating controversial American topics, especially his strong gun stance. Morgan said the show will probably end in March.

“It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings,” Morgan admitted.

The host has been on CNN since January 2011. He took over for Larry King at the 9 p.m. hour.
