Monica Potter may be staying put at NBC next season. The “Parenthood” star is set to topline and produce a comedy pilot for NBC from Warner Bros. TV and Ellen DeGeneres’ production banner.

The multicamera half-hour is described as loosely based on Potter’s life. She’s known as an actress who maintains an active life outside of her thesping work. (For example, she fronts the lifestyle/crafting e-commerce website Mrs. Potter.)

Comedy vets Ellen Kreamer and Sherry Bilsing-Graham are writing and exec producing for DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production banner. DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman are also EPs. Project has a hefty pilot production commitment from the Peacock.

Potter is in the final season of drama “Parenthood,” which has made her a fan favorite for her nuanced portrayal of Kristina Braverman, whose emotional and physical ups and downs have been a pillar of the family drama.

Kreamer and Bilsing-Graham most recently created the Fox comedy “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” which was critically scorched and a had a brief run in 2011.

News of the NBC comedy was first reported by Deadline.
