Outlander,” which has been a strong ratings draw for Starz, will return for the second half of its freshman season April 4. The midseason finale is set to air at 9 p.m. Saturday, with eight new episodes following in 2015. The show has already been renewed for a second season.

The literary adaptation drew roughly 3.8 million viewers in Nielsen’s “live plus-3” estimates for last week’s seventh episode, “The Wedding,” which adapted a key plot point from Diana Gabaldon’s novel — the wedding of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe). This is the largest L+3 number for a Starz series since episode 5 of “Spartacus: Vengeance” in February 2012.

The seventh episode marked a 19% increase week to week, and a 38% increase from the series premiere episode. Over the first four episodes, more than 5 million viewers have watched each episode of the series.

The midseason finale finds Frank (Tobias Menzies) desperately searching for his missing wife, while Claire tries to come to terms with her new marriage to Jamie. Claire is faced with an emotional quandary as a life-altering opportunity presents itself.

“Outlander” is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Co. and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.
